My main motivation for hiring a personal trainer was just that... for motivation! Knowing that someone is expecting me to show up at the gym keeps me on track with a consistent workout schedule. I've been thrilled to see the results over the last several months. While the weight showing on the scales does not reflect the actual weight I've lost, measuring with calipers has told the real story. I've gone from 37% body fat down to 28%. I've lost 2 inches around my waist and hips. I no longer care what those scales are showing because it's not an accurate reading of what's going on inside my body. Thanks to Melanie and her vast knowledge of nutrition and her creative workouts, I'm now wearing clothes that I couldn't wear a year ago. Since starting training sessions with Melanie 6 months ago, I can see a huge difference in my muscle tone. Melanie's professionalism and vast knowledge about fitness is unmatched as far as I'm concerned. Like a lot of things in life, the reason that I hired Next level Performance is because I knew I could not loose this weight alone. I needed a coach that would inspire me and give me knowledgeable advice. I wear a suit and tie all day, sitting behind a desk or behind the steering wheel. The heaviest thing I need to lift on a daily basis is a briefcase. I turned 40 and had a sort of reverse mid life crisis. I decided it was time to get in shape and start living more healthy. I was not interested in training for a marathon or participating in either the strongman challenge or the bodybuilding finals. Measuring 5'9" and tipping the scales at 315, I vaguely remembered what it was like when I was in the gym as a high school athlete. I had glorious memories of being able to run more than 50 feet and climb a flight of stairs without being winded. I had the motivation to change, but knew I had a goal that would require professional help to reach. I started out on my own, and I began a diet and exercise program, but wanted to do it right. When I enlisted Mike and Melanie Smiths help, I could not do a single dip, was pitifully weak, and easily winded. I had forgotten the proper way to exercise, and had injured my shoulder lifting with poor technique a few months before. Mike showed me the proper ways to workout, things that I didn't learn even in high school football, and tailored our workout program to my goals- looking better and loosing weight- not bulking up or strength gain as a goal. His knowledge of the body and how different muscles and muscle groups work together was critical in producing fast results that were visible and resulted in more strength, generally better health, and better physical fitness. Getting in shape at 40 requires the individuals strong desire to change, but that desire has much more effect with the guidance of a professional like Mike. Melanie not only helped with workout tips and routines, but also provided invaluable diet and nutrition information that gave me the energy my body needed, boosted my metabolism, and kept the fat and empty calories off the plate. I have now lost over 100 pounds in 11 months, and body fat analysis shows that I have added 15 pounds or more of muscle. I was wearing size 56 regular suits, now I wear size 44- 46 regular. My neck was 18" inches, now I fit well in a 16.- That is 2 inches in the NECK! Waist size 46, now I buy jeans size 34.From 2XL to Medium shirts. I have about 30 pounds to go, and have complete confidence that I will reach my goals, and if I hit a wall, Mike and Melanie can get me over it. I look better, feel better, and might even live a little longer, if I keep up an easy maintenance program. Curtis Sluder

My husband had started working with Mike, and was losing a lot of weight (around 50lbs at the time), and wanted me to join for toning and to become more fit. I was not interested because I knew that I would not go. He hired Mike in July so that I would have a commitment. I went reluctantly. Mike was very encouraging and patient when I would lie in the floor from complete exhaustion after my first five minutes. He worked with me in a room off from the main gym until I was able to use the equipment without embarrassing myself. My goal was to lose about 7lbs and tone my muscles. I have lost the 7lbs and I like what I see in the mirror. I know how to use the equipment properly, but I still have Mike as my trainer or I would be back on the couch with my chocolate cake.
